Acclaimed Soprano Victoria Oruwari is a London-based Nigerian born singer whose versatile repertoire covers art songs, operatic arias, and musical theatre. She acquired her Bachelor of Music degree and postgraduate in Voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance graduating with distinction.
Performance highlights include:
Playing “Mother” in The Royal Opera House and Candoco Dance Company’s production of Shaun Tann’s “The Lost Thing”.
Playing “Angel” in Graeae Theatre Company’s production of Mike Kenny’s “This Is Not For You”.
Performing Gorecki’s “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs” with the British Paraorchestra”
Featuring on BBC Radio 3’s lunch time concert with the BBC singers.
Singing on Hannah Peel’s album with Paraorchestra titled “The Unfolding”.
A member of the British Paraorchestra, The Innervision Orchestra, and an affiliate of the African Concert Series, Victoria’s career has seen her perform at prestigious venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall, The Barbican, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Glastonbury Park stage.
Victoria has been the subject of two TV documentaries, “The Soprano’s Colourful Sounds” and “Victoria’s Kiwi Adventure” as well as featuring in Charles Hazelwood’s documentaries “Beethoven and Me” and “21st Century Orchestra” on the Sky Arts channel.
Her 2024 plans include performing with the British Paraorchestra at the Southbank Clore Ballroom in January, the African Concert Series at the Wigmore Hall in February, and performing in “The Colour of Dinosaurs” at the Polka Theatre May and June.
