Miranda Ostler is currently completing her Masters in Vocal Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, London, where she holds the Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholarship. She also won the 2022 Paul Simm Opera Prize for the most promising student in opera. Recent roles for Trinity Laban Opera include the lead role in Strozzi!, a jukebox opera of works by Barbara Strozzi at Blackheath Halls; Kael in Edward Jessen’s Syllable; and Mrs Cratchit in scenes from Thea Musgrave’s A Christmas Carol.
Her recent concert soloist work includes the annual sell-out Handel Messiah at St John’s Smith Square with Platinum Consort and Scott Inglis-Kidger; Bach Weihnachts-Oratorium for the German Choir of London and Barbara Höfling; and Bach St John Passion for the Oxford Bach Soloists and Tom Hammond-Davies. She has also curated a series of recitals based around Libby Larsen's song cycle, Love after 1950, performing with pianists Jack Wood and Roxanna Shini in various venues across London.
Miranda is a member of The Ruffians, a new music collective and upper voice vocal trio with a taste for the improvised, experimental and absurd. She was the vocal soloist on Julian Marshall’s dance-film Yearning, and provides backing vocals as part of The Rupa Ensemble on his The Angel in the Forest disc with James Gilchrist and cellists from the Philharmonia Orchestra; she has recorded several recent discs with the London Choral Sinfonia and Michael Waldron; and deputises with the BBC Singers.
